For the complete life, the perfect pattern includes old age as well as youth and maturity. The beauty of the morning and the radiance of the noon are good, but it would be a very silly person who drew the curtains and turned out the light in order to shut out the tranquility of the evening. Old age has its pleasures, which though different, are not less than the pleasures of youth.” W. Somerset Maugham
Mediation for Seniors and their Families
Elder Mediation is one answer as to how older adults and there potential caregivers can address the issues of aging, as well as the tensions that may arise within a family. Mediation can be used for disputes over finances, health care, living arrangements; quality of life decisions and estates.
Elder Mediation can add to the already lengthy list of families helped by mediation which has proven effective in resolving disputes surrounding divorce, parenting arrangements, parent – teen relationships, child welfare cases, and family businesses.
I encourage families, as a mediator, to put decision-making back into the hands of those with the most information, and who must live with the results – the family.
Through a customized yet practical approach, I believe I may serve in helping families communicate more effectively, manage conflicts and strengthen the relationships critical to the well-being of the aging family member.
